Flower Entrance Disc – 5 inches

Description

Help your bees identify their own hive with unique flower entrance discs.  Also works really well for mating nucs since the flower can help them identify their hive to return to.  We have three main designs similar to our floating flowers and in various color patterns.  The designs are called Sunflower (15 petals), Daisy (6 petals), and Puffy Petals (5 large petals).

The discs are 5 inches (4.9inches /125mm) in diameter and the entrance hole is 1.5inches/40mm.  We have added additional venting and we tried to design it so the venting did not take up a flower petal but that is not always possible.  The queen excluder slots are rounded to make them a bit easier on the foragers wings.  The flower and center of the flower are layered on top of the disc, so the base disc does not need to be very thick since the flower adds additional thickness and support.

These discs are 3d printed with PETG and come in a wide variety of colors.  However, if there is a color combination we are missing, please add that in the description when you order and we should be able to accommodate.

When ordering, specify the flower design (Sunflower, Daisy, or Puffy) and the base/background colors.  We have had issues with the various color choices so if you do not see a color patter you like then message or email us directly and ask or when making your order you can send a note with the order explaining what colors you would like.

When using long hives (like a Layens or Long Lang) these entrances can help you swap entrances on your bees.  For example, add different flower discs for each entrance hole and if you need to move the entrance to another hole, just swap out the entrance discs.  The bees tend to associate their entrance with a particular color/shape and the transition to the new entrance hole can help.  This is very helpful when wanting to swap out old brood comb since the queen lays brood near the entrance.
