Bucket Bee Floater – 5 gallon (New Version)
$12.99
Description
This is our bucket feeder that floats on top of the water or sugar water to give the bees somewhere to land and to pull themselves out of the water when they fall in. Our bucket bee floater is prettier than any other bucket feeder on the market with the giant bee in the middle! You can place the floater on top of a full 5 gallon bucket and it will ride on top of the water all the way to the bottom of the bucket. Yes, our floaters will go all the way to the bottom of the bucket! The honeycombs in the middle are designed to allow the bees to sit and feed without drowning and the sides are textured for those bees that walk down the sides.
This newer model is thicker so it captures more air and it has more walls so it is far less likely to leak. In addition, we turned up the heat so the layers bond better. This newer model sits out of the water a bit more than the previous model as well.
Our bucket floater is 10 inches in diameter so it fits many different 5 gallon buckets, which are 11 inches inside at the top and slightly over 10 inches in the bottom. This floater is over 1/2″ thick and has air sealed inside the plastic so it always stays afloat. The floater is really double-sided so either side can face up.
These are printed with PETG plastic which is UV resistant and will stand up to multiple seasons of feeding or watering your bees!
Made in the USA by beekeepers for beekeepers!

CAUTION: If using these floaters to feed sugar water, you must be extremely careful about how many hives you are feeding versus the number of buckets and time of year. It is very easy for a honey bee to drown when the water gets cold or cool so keep that in mind in cooler months. Then if you are feeding during a dearth, the bees get more aggressive about feeding. So the more hives you have the more they will push each other down into the bucket! You can easily cause a lot of bee deaths feeding a large number of colonies with too few buckets of sugar water. We recommend no more than about 5 hives per bucket when open feeding. Of course this depends on the size of the colonies.
