Box Beetle Trap

Description

This is a reusable beetle trap that can be used is almost any hive.  Since Layens and Top Bar hives do not use the same type of frames, we designed this trap to sit on the bottom of the hive or on the other side of a follower board.  Basically where ever there are beetles and the box with fit.

Add either DE (diatomaceous earth) to the trap and the bees will chase the beetles into the trap.  When the trap is full or used up, you can dump the contents and reuse the trap!  No more wasting money throwing out old traps.  We have had great luck using DE in the bottom of the trap and then adding a small piece of pollen patty to draw in the hive beetles!  Just keep in mind that the DE will need to be replaced after it is full or if it gets damp.

These traps are 3d printed using PETG so it is safe in the bee hive and can take some heat.
