Queen Isolation Cage

$2.99

Description

These queen isolation cages are used to introduce mated queens to an established colony.  Our cages are now offered in two designs, with and without a skirt.  “With the skirt” is good for introducing a queen into comb that is not fully drawn out.  This way the workers will not be able to easily dig under the edges.  “Without the skirt” option does not mangle the honeycomb as much as the skirt option.

These are 4 inches by 4 inches and approximately 1 inch deep.  The legs are made to press against the plastic foundation and stop you from pushing the cage in too far.  If using wax foundation take care not to press the cage in too far.

These cages are 3d printed using PETG and come in various colors.

Usage directions: Pick out a spot on the frame where there is emerging worker brood and some available cells.  Place the queen in this area and cover with the queen cage.  The emerging brood will help take care of the queen and clean their cell for the queen to lay.

For more information on push in cages and how to use them check out Richard Noel’s videos below on Michael Palmer’s push in cages.  These videos are 100% Richard’s videos and are provided for informational purposes only.  While I would love to have it, these videos are in no way an endorsement of our queen cages by Richard.
