I can only say I am sorry I have been so bad about posting. It has been since early January and that is not good. As usual I have not been that great about taking pictures so not much here yet. My full time job has been busy (this is a great thing!) and hive orders have come in for the spring so I have the weekends to build and some evenings. February and March are always busy with my family and getting ready for the bee school so I lose some time there but so worth it!
This year I picked up two more 3d printers so I could bring more stuff to the bee school and so far the bee parts have been very well received. I am looking forward to getting the web store up and running because we came up with some cool stuff for beekeeping. Some of it I do not think I have ever seen before so looking forward to promoting it.
I also use the 3d printers to help speed up build times. Below is a vent hold that I created for my hives. I drill the hole and glue in this vent tube and I am done. This is much faster than cutting out hardware cloth and stapling in place…and I don’t get stabbed as much! The vents are all black petg plastic so they will hold up and you do not noticed them except that critters cannot get into the attics of the bee hives.
Guys in my local club have had me designing and building some stuff as well…which is where a couple ideas came from. If you have not joined a local bee club you are missing out. If you don’t like your local club, find another one…they are worth it! We even have another guy in our club that does 3d printing…he has a Voron so I know he had to build it himself. Yes, the top picture is what some call the blob of death. You can sometimes heat up the part to remove the plastic but the cover in this case was another type of plastic and I could not heat it up enough without melting it. The printer was down for a week while waiting for replacement parts. If this takes off any more, it will be time to have more spare parts just in case.
I have had more long lang orders roll in (thank you all!) so going to be a busy spring! Now if only I had a little more spare time to work my own 40 hives!!!
