Finishing Spring ’23 Orders

These two 3 frame nucs and five cedar hives are the last of the orders from months ago.  I can only say THANK YOU for all your patience.  Working a full time job and building hives on the side does go slow.  We were not quite prepared for the volume of orders!  Someone asked me how many hives I built this year and I really have not counted!  I am guessing at least two dozen but that might be short as well.

At any rate we have five cedar hives and one donor hive that must be finished by 9/9/23…yes, that is in 4 days.  Fortunately the metal roof is the only thing left to do.  I will try to post an update once they are done.  I am having the metal shop make a few of the metal roofs so I am very curious what they will look like.

The three frame nuc boxes were a special request…actually doing some trading for them.  While they were supposed to use scrap wood, I did cheat and picked up a 1×12 because I did not have time to join up a bunch of 1x4s for them.  The cedar handles/supports should help it hold up longer.

We are planning to take a break from building hives for a few weeks….well we SAY that.  I have about 15-20 hives that I need to finish for my bees.  There are also two cottonwood long hives that are not quite done and I need to make some more lids for my bees.  Oh and I only have about 20 frames ready right now.  Need to set aside some time to build a few things for my bees soon.

Right now I am drawing up plans to rebuild my deer stand that is about 20 years old.  It will be a 6×8 with big windows so I can shoot my bow out of it.  I just love the challenge of bowhunting far more than a crossbow or a rifle.  However, when gun season rolls around I am seriously thinking about taking ONLY a pistol…have a .44 in mind for that job but we will see.

Other future ideas….I still need to build a desk!  My particle board desk is about 30 years old and I work from it daily.  Seriously thinking of a stand/sit mount and make the top.  Also have some dry live oak and post oak and I really want to make a long lang with it.  Yes, it will be really heavy but talk about unique!!!
